Growing a Clove Plant

Clove plants are relatively easy to care for if they are planted in the right environment. Remember, clove trees are native to tropical environments. Even though these plants are evergreens, they cannot handle the harshness of winter. Clove trees flourish in soil that drains well, but they do enjoy a large amount of water. A clove tree should enjoy partial shade to truly thrive. Heavy standing water will typically kill a clove tree, but the pleasant aroma and bright red blooms make a clove tree an ideal plant for tropical gardens.
